As a “day job,” I write and edit a line of manga adaptations of literary classics, which is basically the greatest job for a classic lolita ever. Sometimes I get to write the original scripts that the artist works from, as with PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and SENSE AND SENSIBILITY (both Jane Austen titles!). In other cases, my role is to oversee production and ensure that the final book is true to both the original novel and the conventions of manga story-telling.
It’s fun but often difficult work, and I feel very honored that our books have earned accolades from organizations like YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Awards) and the Texas Mavericks Graphic Novel Reading List, along with a variety of reviewers. We’re averaging about 4 stars per book on Goodreads.com, so I guess we’re doing something right!
